Customer Testimonials
Listen to what IHC clients say about our onsite health screeningsWe get lots of nice comments from time to time, but what really turns us on are stories like this one.

When an IHC team goes on a schedule they never know what impact their work may have on the people they test. One of IHC's clients is a fairly large fire department. The value of the service provided to this fire department has already been recognized by a neighboring fire department and they were included in this years schedule to be done at the same time. A reporter for one of the local newspapers did an article on the services provided and was told that the police department was looking at providing the same tests for the police men and women. One of the main reasons the police department is thinking about doing this, and the neighboring fire department started, is exemplified by the experience of one of the firefighters.

For the past 20 years, as part of a preventive health initiative, the firefighters have gotten a wide range of tests including several blood studies, electrocardiograms, chest X-rays, pulmonary function studies, hearing exams, blood pressure, vision and especially important for this firefighter in particular, a PSA.

Kenny's blood test four years ago led to detection of prostate cancer, even though he had no symptoms.

"I've got two small kids," said the 54-year-old, who has been a firefighter for 24 years. "Luckily, I'm still around to see them grow." Kenny said his cancer, caught early, was contained to the prostate. After surgery at a local Medical Center , he said he's had no side effects or signs of cancer.

His Battalion Chief said the prostate exams are given annually to firefighters over 40, every other year to those 30 to 40 and every third year to those under 30. The exams help make sure firefighters are fit to perform their jobs and can detect treatable conditions, such as Kenny's cancer, he said.

Kenny said it was a shock to be diagnosed with cancer because he was in good health and strived to eat right and stay in shape. He's glad it was caught early.
